You may smell the strong alcohol scent because it has the CDC recommended percentage of alcohol for effective hand sanitation. According to the CDC, the most effective sanitizers are alcohol-based with at least 60 percent alcohol content. They work by dissolving microbes’ protective outer layer, which kills them.

Do not use on children less than 2 months of age. Supervise children under age of 6 years or younger. Flammable. Avoid freezing and excessive heat above 43C (110F) or fire. Do not use on open skin wounds. Apply away from eyes, ears, and mouth. In case of contact with eyes, rinse thoroughly with running water. Stop use and ask a doctor if irritation or rash occurs. If swallowed, seek medical help or contact Poison Control Centre immediately.
